What Everybody Must Know About Writing a Blog

Do you find it hard to write a blog post? Do you get writer’s block in the middle of the creative process? Or do you just want to write a post but you don’t know where to start? Today, I will tell you some basics about blog writing.

Here are 10 tips on how to improve your blog writing:

  1. The shorter, the better.

Share as much information as you can through using as few words as possible. Like what the old saying goes “Time is Gold”. Pour your knowledge into the reader as fast as possible.

  2. Express your ideas.

People like blogs because they are written by other people too. Blogs contain a human face, as compared to corporate websites. Most people want to know what other people think, so feel free to share with them your ideas.

  3. Linking is not bad.

Make sure that you get support in your posts with the help of links to other web pages that are relevant to your post.

  4. 300 words is adequate.

Long posts are easier to forget and harder to understand or get into. On the other hand, short posts are easy to digest and remember.

  5. Make your headlines edgy.

Make sure you include your whole topic in your headline. Check out newspapers or other online articles to see and know how they do it.

  6. Be sure that your posts are easy to scan.

With every few paragraphs, it is advised to insert a sub heading. Make sure that sentences and headlines are straight to the point.

  7. Write in the tone you’re comfortable with.

As you begin to create your blog, find a tone or a voice you’re comfortable writing in. It is inevitable that as you browse through different blogs on different subjects, you will find a writer or group of writers who have the same tone as what you have in mind. Starting out with them as your guide on how to write is fine, but it is advisable that you develop your own as you go along.

  8. Include keywords in your post.

Save some time to think of keywords that can be used to search for your post and include them in the body text and headers. Just be sure that the keyword placement is natural and would not bother the readers.

  9. Proofread and double check your article.

One of the keys in good writing is in editing. Before deciding to submit or post your blog, make sure you re-read your post and feel free to cut out the stuff that you don’t need.

  10. Use bullet listing.

Everyone loves lists. It is pleasing to the eyes and structures the information in an easily-digestible format.
