Traffic Meta Breakdown

Back in the day all traffic came from your meta tags and your keywords. Don’t get me wrong these are still very useful but they don’t build you as much traffic because of the millions of website out there. To give you an example I would love to be the number 1 site on Google for web design well that really isn’t practical it is possible but when you search web design you get 343,000,000 that is how many pages are being crawled with the words web design. Now I am not saying don’t try to get to the top of the list. Defiantly try but try for something a little smaller like for instance I am from Michigan and so I am trying to get top for Lansing Web Design and Michigan Web Design. If you search Lansing Web Design I am close to the top. Now if I use keywords like that and try to focus on a smaller scale my site will rise on the bigger scale.
Your keyword meta tag is important but you have two other tags that are even more important your title meta tag and description meta tag. Your title meta tag is different from your normal title tag because it is what the browsers look at first and way a lot of their decisions on. The regular title tag is also very important it should be used everywhere that it is possible.

Best Ways To Produce Traffic

Here is a list of some really good ways to build traffic to your site.
1) Submitting – You must submit your site to search engines.
2) Use a favicon.ico
3) Depending on what your site is about submit it to other sites with that kind of material.
4) Have a lot of content. This still has to be good content. Pictures really bring in lots of traffic.
5) Use your META tags effectively. META help
6) Advertise with google or other advertising companies.
7) Use Social Media by talking about your site.

Probably the fastest way to get traffic to your site is pay per click. Yes it is going to cost you but in the long run of things it will be worth it. Some people think that after doing these things your site will just magically appear at the top of Google or Yahoo but it won’t. Building a vast amount of traffic takes time and some times money.

What is it that you are looking for in your site? What would you like your site to do? How often are you planning on updating your site? Would you like to have the ability to change your site? Well these are some of the questions that we ask a client that comes to us wanting a site. Most people don’t understand that their is much more to a site then just having a idea of “I need a site” or “my company needs a site.” With these questions that I have asked it starts me thinking would it be better for my client to have a CMS or not. A CMS is a Content Management System it is used to give the buyer the ability to make small changes to the site pages in case they may need to change some text or something little. Once I find out that my client may need a CMS then comes the point of giving the client a CMS that will work with their needs. For instance if a client came to me and said that they would like a site that has a blog area that they could update daily. The first thing that comes to my mind is WordPress. Let alone WordPress is very user friendly it has so many capabilities and plugins that are free. If my client came to me and said that they would like a site that they would only have to change about every 6 months or more. I would probably look at either building the site with static information or using a smaller CMS. My personal preference would be Frog CMS. It is easy to learn and is easy to customize because of its small size. Their are a lot of different opinions on what is the best CMS. I don’t really think their is a “best” I feel that it really depends on the situation and the developers preference. A short list of some of the free CMS’s out their:

My Opinion

This is just a few of the vast amount of CMS’s out their that you can choose from. Note that all of these are free open source CMS’s. I have mt own opinion about these CMS’s and I believe even though Drupal and Joomla are two of the biggest CMS’s they are two of the most complicated. I personally would stick with WordPress for blog sites and for smaller sites I would go with Frog CMS but this is my personal opinion. I would say defiantly try out multiple CMS’s to see what you build a preference to. One of the aspects that I am going to have this do is make it so that you can register possible client and actual clients. With the actual clients this will allow you to register client and keep track of money that has been received from them and money that is still in the waiting. I felt that something that would be useful is a emailing system that sends you a email that a client needs to make a payment and it also sends a email to the client so that they know.

Another aspect that I am going to have this do is calculate the taxes on money received. Also a place for you to input expenses. I have a lot to do with this and would love input on the subject I would like to have this out to the public by this summer. I am at first building this to my needs and then building it to everyone’s needs. Working for an advertising agency we see and here about almost everything. I am a co-owner of Chosen Development, we do everything from websites down to walking dogs. We don’t do just Logo Designs or consider our selves to being a Logo Design Company. Some of the logos that we have created were Church Logo Designs and Business Logos. Most of the people who come to our company want a logo designed for something like $20 and yes we could do that but people really need to notice that if you spend $20 on a Logo Design you are going to get $20 worth of work.

What Logo Designs Should Consist Of

Alright if you look at some of the most popular Logo Designs some of these designs might of went for hundreds of thousands of dollars. For instance if you take some of the Sport Logo Designs like Nike for instance I don’t know off hand how much they paid for there Logo but everyone knows what it is. I can definitely tell you that it wasn’t a $20 Logo Design. Most of the really popular companies might have paid up to a couple million dollars for a Logo Design. There are a few companies out there that have paid little to nothing for their Logo. For instance one of the biggest companies in the world Google not that many people know Google’s Logo but it sucks you should look it up. For a Logo Design for a small company it is a good thing to pay for something that will be worth it. For a price perspective I would have to say that a good Logo would be between $500 to $1500 and for a cheaper logo you could spend anywhere from free to $100.

There are quite a few Logos out there that have probably been done for either free or by somebody that has no clue what they are doing. One of our biggest mottoes here at Chosen Development is let the professionals do what they are good at. Basically it like a plumber you aren’t going to call them and say what they should do because you know that they know that they know what they are doing. So with that Logo Design is something that every business needs but would you like to pay a little and get something like these or would you rather pay a little more and get something worth your money and time.

From my personal experience with Windows Media Player 11 it has not enough and too much at the same time. I feel like I don’t know anything about it when I operate it because there is so much stuff that is redundant. I think Windows Media Player 11 is not to fancy but it is too confusing especially when there is free software out there that does everything Windows Media Player 11 does and more but you can understand it. I am not going to get too far into depth with these products because I feel that you should have to try them out so that you can judge them yourself. So from my own experience I personally use Zune because I have taken the time to get to know it well enough that I can do pretty much everything that it offers. I will admit that it can be a little confusing at first but if you just spend a little time messing with it you will come to love it or hate it. Media Player Classic is something I use regularly because I like to watch movies on my computer and Media Player Classic is small fast and easy to operate unlike trying to play an avi or most any other video files on Windows Media Player. RealPlayer and iTunes they are both good but I feel that they are a trend and everybody uses them. I hate trends and like to be different. WinAMP I have used but didn’t really like it, it seemed too complicated for just listening to music or watching movies.

For the rest VideoLan, Media Jukebox, and Songbird are supposed to be really good and I haven’t found a website that hasn’t had them either close to the top or at the top. I am currently going to try them because you know what people say it is good to try new things. I really hope that this shows people that there is something other than Windows Media Player 11 and yes they are free. Well that is it from me and I hope to hear your input on this subject. Thanks

Most of these are quite the same and can be answered in a easy sentance.

1st Group - css how to, css examples, css example, and learn css; I feel can be all catogorized in the same group. Well for the most part you can look at another one of my posts that I have created and it will answer most of these questions. 2nd Group - css page, css stylesheet, and css layout. Well to start out the CSS page is the exact same as a CSS stylesheet but just not named right. The CSS stylesheet and css layout can be found on my Mistaken CSS and More CSS for beginners pages.

3rd Group – css tables, css top, css text, css hover, css image, css images, css margin, css height, css width, css div, css tag, css color, background image css, and div tag. Some of these are easy one line explinations. All of these you can use in a stylesheet.

css tables – You use the tag table and it should look like this table {what you want it to do}. Inside a table you can do stuff like td or tr which td is a column and tr is a row so you can say tr {what you want it to do} or td {what you want it to do}.

css top – This is used most of the time with a certain position like relative or absolute. All this does is moves the specific element down from the top. It looks something like this TAG {position:relative; top: (distance(px, em));}.

css text – There isnt a css text but you can put stuff into a p or many other TAGs.

css hover -The css hover is used with the <a> TAG which looks like this a:hover.

css image, css images, background image css – I think all of these can go together. The css image and css images are used on the TAG img and will look like this img {what you want it to do}. The background image css is used to give an image to the background and you can do this in many different ways most look like this background-image{image directory}.

css margin – This is easy and should look like this margin{top right bottom left} or you can do them like this margin-top{distance}.

css height and css width – These are quite that same all you do is height: (What you want it to do) and width:(What you want it to do).

css div and div tag – These are kind of the same the div tag is just the TAG you use for html and the css div is what you use in css to design the div. It is wrote like this div {What you want it to do}.

css color – ah the last one and probably the most complex of all of them, css color is used to say what color the font is and is used inside the TAG and looks like this color: (Your color);.

These all are pretty easy but you have to mess around with them to figure them out.

When people try to build there own website from scratch and have no clue what they are doing most of the time they end up using tables for the whole thing. I can say this from experience my first ever site was done in all tables. At first I thought it looked great but it was horrible I was using open cells just to give the next cell a padding. It was bad. So I understand that new people are going to probably use tables for everything but when you go to make a website if it is for a business don’t use tables or get someone that knows what they are doing to do the site.

You can put all the information for that property in side of one thing. It is kind of like padding, margin, border, and others you can either code each separate or just as one like this-

separate- padding-left:0; padding-right:0; padding-top:0; padding-bottom:0;

just as one- padding:0; You can use that for everything but say you have a 2px padding on the right it would look like this padding: 0 2px 0 0;. That means padding: TOP RIGHT BOTTOM LEFT; this is quite simular for margins also. Now borders are a little different you can either say border: 4px and other stuff; or if you only want a border on a certain side then you have to write out border-right, border-left, border-top, and border-bottom. What is the difference of the three?
Why would I use one over the others?
What is the format for each?

Well I want to touch on these topics a little. First what is the difference of the two? Well the biggest difference between the three is that two are in the HTML document and the other is a external document. The names of each kind should tell what they are the inline and internal are in the HTML document and the style sheet is not.

The second question is why would I use one over the others? The answer for this question is that you really don’t have to chose between the three choices. The only thing that will help is if you use a style sheet it makes your HTML document much more organized. I personally don’t use inline or internal css unless I absolutely have to.

The Third question is what is the format for each? This is a big question because the three do look different. When you are using the inline code it should look something like this-

<p style="color: red">text</p> this goes inside you tags like the paragraph(p) tag.

When you are using internal code it should look like this-
<style type="text/css">
	p {color: red;}
	a {color: blue;}
</style>

And last when you are using the style sheet form it gets a little tricky first you have to link a style sheet to the HTML page by using
this is saying that you have a css file named style.css in the root directory. Now you have to create a file called style.css in the root directory. Inside this document is where your code goes which will look something like this-

hr {color: sienna}
p {margin-left: 20px}
body {background-image: url(“images/back40.gif”)}

Now if you have something like you want a padding and a margin on your paragraph(p) tag all you have to do is p {margin-left: 20px; padding: 2px;}. A really good thing to practice is if you have something that has something like 5 or above attributes about it it is good to code them like this-
p {
margin-left: 20px;
padding: 2px;
width: 100px;
z-index: 2;
height: 75px;
}

With that last thing I believe that you are ready to start coding in CSS and you will have a better understanding of what the code should look like.

See now in order for this to really do some SEO on my site I have to have this post say something about my keywords. Well these are my keywords right at the current time Chosen Development, ChosenDevelopment, Powered by WordPress, shane, strong, shane strong, text messaging online, SEO, Search Engine Optimization, and Chosen. The reason for some of these keywords can explain them selves like all of the Chosen, ChosenDevelopment, and the Chosen Development this is the start up company that I work for and in order for its site to get better we need to get the home page in the top searches so by having the word Chosen in my post I am upping the SEO of the Chosen site and my site at the same time. Now if you look that all of the Chosen words are a link and that ups the SEO even more.

Well if you keep looking at the keywords in this post you will see some like Powered by WordPress and some people would think why would he have that as a keyword or even the Text Messaging Online. Well in order to do some good or great SEO on your site you have to know what keywords that you can use to make it to the top of that key word. Now think Powered by WordPress this is a weird keyword buy it gets over a couple hundred thousand hits a month so now with me having Powered by WordPress in my site the SEO for that search will slowly take me to the top of a search when someone searches for Powered by WordPress. The Text Messaging Online keyword this is in relation to the Text Messaging widget I created on my site. Some of the others like Shane, Shane Strong, and ShaneStrong are just ones that will lift my name to the top of searches. Now people should know the keywords are not everything to SEO even if you get the best keywords. In order for you to get to the top of the list you either have to do something like this were you create a lot of posts to up your SEO or you can pay search engines like Google or Yahoo to put you at the top. So if you would like to up your Search Engine Optimization then get posting or open the wallet and dish out the money.

Probably the best link to use to check your SEO is Website.Grader.com. There are a lot of SEO sites out there but this one breaks down your site in many different ways.
